Imagine the initial shock when you get the phone call; “Alright mate, did you know you’re in the paper”… Cue the sweats and panic, “how did they find out, i’m sure she said she was 22” type of questions going through the mind.
Ah it’s all cool, it’s just the T&A recognising the work which we’ve been doing to promote and sell Paul Town’s limited edition prints of the painting “Time’s a Great Healer” to raise money for the Burns Research Unit. By the way, we’ve still got a small number of the prints available to purchase, so if you would like one before they are all gone, contact us through the website or via the usual social media options and we will sort this out for you.
It’s good of the T&A to publish this news story as we want as many people as possible to know what Wilsden Bantams are all about. Through the donations to deserving charities and the various sponsorship commitments which we have entered into, we want to give as much as we can to the club which we all love, eat and breathe, whilst having a bit of fun and entertainment with like minded supporters at the same time.
Talking of entertainment, you might have seen an update to our upcoming Q&A event which is taking place on Sunday 6th August at The Villager Pub, Wilsden (commences 7pm).
We’ve got many fans who I am sure would love to remember the mid to late 90’s, whilst choosing to erase the early to late noughties before it all got going again, and so this is a night for those type of memories.
For our “Meet the boys from 96” event we are pleased to have Wayne Jacobs, Ian Ormondroyd, Neil Tolson, Andy Kiwomya and Graham Mitchell in attendance to tell us all about their City career, what they got up to, the year we got to Wembley and also what they’ve been up to since their time at City came to an end.
Those of you who have already attended any of our events will know that we always like to have a bit of a laugh along the way, and so it will come as no surprise that we are continuing this trend with this event. The hilariously funny (sorry chaps, it’s hard to read your writing but I think that’s what you’ve written 🙂 ) Tom & Dom from Bantams Banter will be hosting this event and will no doubt be adding their unique twist to the questions posed. By the way, if you would like to submit any questions for the boys prior to the event, you can submit them via the “Contact” section of the website.
Anyway, the big update for this event is this: Following the kind sponsorship of the event by our friends at Village Fisheries, Wilsden, we are pleased to announce that we are able to waiver any cover fee’s for this event. This is a great gesture by Andy at Village Fisheries and we are really thankful for your support. And your food.
So in essence, what this means is that for free (ok, so the drinks aren’t free) you will get an evening with a couple of ex-City players, some comedy moments from Tom & Dom, and some free supper to boot. Whilst we can’t extend the freebies any further than that, what we can do is throw in a mini race-night and a prize raffle aswell on the night so you’re also in with a chance of winning a couple of quid or some top City related prizes.
We would love to see you at this event, it is open to both members and non-members and so we extend our welcome to everyone.
FIFA 17 Tournament
We’ve still got a couple of places left on the Fifa 17 (PS4 console) tournament which is being planned for the middle to late August – please check the events section of the website where you can secure your place on line via the payment section.
Finally for now, I’m sure I speak on behalf of all Wilsden Bantams Members and the Committee in offering our best wishes to Chris and Deborah on the birth of their little boy, Hudson Cole who safely arrived on Monday 23/7 – congratulations to you both!!
