Who said pre-season was quiet

As the week draws to a close we take a look back at what we’ve been up to, and the plans that we have for the next couple of weeks.  It’s fair to say that this pre-season hasn’t exactly been “put your feet up” time.

Ok, so the week started on a high with most of the Wilsden Bantams team being entertained by Tom, Jamie and James from The Good Citizens at a charity fundraising event for Manorlands Hospice at The Villager 20170611_213435– this wasn’t exactly a WB event but you know us, any excuse to get involved, raise some hard cash and help great causes.IMG-20170616-WA0027.jpg  Billy Bantam, a regular now to The Villager, was on hand to keep the kids entertained and also belted out some tunes too.  He does a wicked “love on the rocks” does our Billy, but his “I’m a Barbie girl” needs a bit of work to be fair…  The day raised over £3000 for Manorlands, so a massive well done to all involved.

Needless to say, there were a couple of sore heads the following day, but the planning continued soon after the tablets had worn off and we had some serious business to be getting on with.

So, early in the week we visited Valley Parade to secure the Football and Education sponsorship of the Bradford City Community Foundation Boys Team for 2017-1820170613_181859.jpgThis is a fantastic representation for Wilsden Bantams and we are really looking forward to working with Adam and the boys this coming season.  It’s a great programme to be involved with and we can’t wait to see our names on the Boys’ shirts.  You can find out more about this on our news page.

Whilst we were there sorting out the finer detail, we took the opportunity to catch up with Saiful and Zeeshaan (Bantams Vloggers) and confirm their positions for our forthcoming football match (see below), whilst also waiting for Jeff Stelling, Chris Kamara, Paul Jewell and Ronnie Moore to arrive at Valley Parade to complete their gruelling walk from Oakwell to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.  Despite being absolutely shattered, the guys took time out for photo’s and some good banter.

Anyway, after all that it was back to HQ to secure a few more deals from local businesses by way of offering discounts to you, the members of Wilsden Bantams, and to put the finishing touches to the detail of the charity football match versus Idle FC which is coming up soon.  This is taking place at Dixons Allerton Academy on Saturday 1st July – 2pm kick off and is turning out to be much bigger and better than what we imagined (and that’s saying something as we set our sights quite high).  There’s still a couple of names to be confirmed yet to the line up and we are chomping at the bit to  fast forward to this event.  It’s going to be a brilliant day out, so please come and give it your support.

You’d think that would be enough for one week, but nah, we then only went and rubberstamped the SPONSORSHIP OF COLIN DOYLE for the coming season!  IMG-20170616-WA0032Pause, and repeat, the.. sponsorship.. of.. Colin.. Doyle..  We can’t tell you how proud we are of this, and we hope that as members of the Wilsden Bantams Supporters Club, you are too.  You’ll remember that Colin supported our inaugural meeting of the Wilsden Bantams back in April, and in return we are thrilled to be Colin’s main sponsor for 2017-18.  We hope this emphasises our commitment to Wilsden Bantams investing in your club, our club, Bradford City, in as many ways as possible.  And we can only do that with the amazing support which you have continued to give us from day one.

We’re now working on the forthcoming members open evening which is being held at The Villager, Wilsden on Sunday 25th June (7pm).  It’s a Sunday night so it won’t be a late one 🙂  We’ve also got a few more things going on behind the scenes between now and then and we would love you to come along to The Villager to hear what we’ve been up to and what we’ve got in store for the future.  It will also be an opportunity for you to pick up your WB membership cards, which will enable you to enjoy the members benefits offered by our business supporters.

So all in all, it’s been a decent week to be a Wilsden Bantam.  If you haven’t already joined the Supporters Club you can apply here and one of the team will get back to you.

Have a fantastic weekend from all the team at Wilsden Bantams
